We used this as a makeshift stairgate and room divider before Tara was very mobile, then a little playpen for those moments when you need answer the door, open the oven, etc, then eventually it worked well as a repository for things I didn't want her to touch - the baby was outside it and my book / hot tea / laptop etc could be popped in the middle!
